On Sale: The Flash #247

The Flash (v.2) #247 will be available tomorrow, just in time for the stuffing of stockings! The landmark issue marks the end--once again--of the second volume of scarlet speedster's series. Despite the issue's dire description, this certainly isn't the end of the legacy of the fastest man alive! The Flash will return, of course, in the long-awaited epic mini-series The Flash: Rebirth, from Geoff Johns and Ethan Van Sciver, in April of 2009.

Written by Alan Burnett; Art by Carlo Barberi and Drew Geraci; Cover by Brian Stelfreeze. "This Was Your Life, Wally West" concludes! As Flash stands alone without his powers or family to support him, only one question remains--is this the end of the Fastest Man Alive? DC Universe. 32pg. Color. $2.99 US. On Sale December 24, 2008.

Aww Man! Don't Kill Wally. I watched him grow up. Just give him his power back and have him become a new superfast hero. Perhaps Kid Flash again if he doesn't mind being called kid.

Fear not, Rick. It doesn't look as if they're foolish enough to kill off Wally West. I believe that Geoff Johns has reassured the fans on this point in commenting that Wally and his family will have a role to play in The Flash: Rebirth and its subsequent realignment of the franchise. Even if Barry is back, there's little chance that Wally will be leaving us.

Thanks, Kelson! I thought I'd try out a design featuring Captain Cold during the holidays as it's the dead of winter--and it looks like he's going to be the winner in my latest poll! We'll return to the scarlet speedster design in time for the new year but I just may be inspired to spotlight other Rogues in the future, too...
