Super Friends on DVD

During an online chat with the Home Theater Forum, executives from Warner Home Video noted that two iterations of the Super Friends are on their way to DVD. Both 1984's Super Friends: The Legendary Super Powers Show and 1985's Super Friends: Galactica Guardians are destined for a DVD release later this year. The Flash was a member of the team during both series. Though the Warner Home Video representatives also indicated that Filmation's Aquaman and Batman series are being prepared for release as well, there's no word regarding the status of the scarlet speedster's own 1960's Filmation shorts. Visit the Home Theater Forum for the complete chat transcript.

too bad they cant throw in a bonus disc of all the non-headlining Filmation cartoon stars, like Flash, Teen Titans, etc. Didnt they even do the Doom Patrol once or something? or am i dreaming?

I'm sorry to say you might be dreaming as far as the Doom Patrol is concerned, Rob. As far as I am aware, Filmation produced only shorts featuring the Flash, the Atom, Green Lantern, Hawkman, the Justice League, and the Teen Titans. Considering each of those characters and teams received only three episodes each, we can but hope they appear on a bonus disc in some future collection.

I loved those "Super Powers" cartoons. Great special effects, sound effects, and casts of characters (to my 11-year-old mind, anyway).

It'll be nice to have dvd access and not just some YouTube and other lower-res copies.
